In Celebration of Indigenous Peoples Sunday: IP calls for a Stronger Unity with the Church

Sun, 10/10/2010 - 14:00 - katribu manila |  |

The KATRIBU Partylist, its officers and members join our Christian brothers and sisters commemorate the annual Tribal Filipino Sunday. We appreciate the Church's continued recognition of our collective and human rights to our ancestral land and identity.

We commend the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) through its Episcopal Commission on Indigenous Peoples (ECIP) for the theme “HEALING FOR SOLIDARITY: ASKING FORGIVENESS FOR SINS AGAINST INDIGENOUS PEOPLES– ” in this year's celebration of Tribal Filipino Sunday. Such a theme is very timely as the unity of the Church is the strongest asset of the indigenous peoples to change the plight we are currently face. But unity without understanding is null. Learning from the lessons of past mistakes forges stronger ties. Read more »

KATRIBU salutes its volunteers, advocates and allies

Wed, 05/12/2010 - 19:40 - katribu manila |  |

On behalf of KATRIBU Partylist, I salute our volunteers, advocates and allies who shared their time, resources and commitment to advance the historic bid of indigenous peoples for representation in the House of Representatives. Your vigorous support enabled us to hurdle challenges posed by scarce resources, political harassment and other limitations our campaign encountered.

We commend the voters who braved long walks and queues under the searing sun, particularly the indigenous peoples and advocates who placed their trust on us despite harassment and discrimination. Moreover, we congratulate the victors, especially those who fully supported us. Read more »
