KATRIBU Partylist, duly accredited by the Commission on Elections (Comelec), is participating in the May 10 elections specifically in the partylist system. KATRIBU aims to bring representatives to Congress that will uphold and protect the rights and welfare of indigenous peoples.

KATRIBU Partylist is a member of Makabayang Koalisyon ng Mamamayan (Makabayan), a political coalition presently comprised of eight Philippine progressive parties.

Agenda

The KATRIBU Partylist agenda in Congress

1. Protect ancestral land as the source of life.  Advance indigenous peoples’ rights to ancestral domain and self-determination.

2. Fight for genuine land reform and food security.

3. Strive for sufficient and suitable social services, especially in the fields of livelihood development, labor protection, education, and health.

4. Fight against policies that promote large mining, the construction of  large dams, the establishment of large plantations, and other big business projects which destroy ancestral land and the environment.  Promote the adoption of alternative policies which foster the the sustainable use and nurturance of the environment.

5. Promote traditional methods of natural resource use and management.

6. Enhance the capacity of communities to address the effects of environmental destruction and climate change, such as the disasters which now occur with almost every typhoon.

7. Gain recognition and respect for indigenous socio-political and economic systems, cultures, and identity.

8. Stand up for justice, human rights, and equality.
